My life was dramatically changed by Jesus one day when I was 18 years old. It was a typical day that forever changed how I thought about God and His plan for me. You see, I had a vision of Christ in which we were walking across a map of the United States. I was carrying a bag of seeds, and He was directing me where to plant each one. He would tell me to go to California, then to New York, the down to Florida. All over the map, we were walking and planting seeds. Suddenly, the scene changed, and I was standing in a blindingly white room with Jesus standing in front of me. Everything became very quiet, and He asked me one question that would forever change my life. He said, "Shannon, Do you love me?". At that moment, all I could do was fall to His feet with my face on the ground and weep. Then the vision was over. I was awake in my room, unable to move my body, crying uncontrollably. This moment in time changed me.
As I studied the Bible, it became clear that a person can do a lot of good in the world without a genuine love for the Lord. I believe the Lord was speaking loud and clear to me that He desired above all things that my motivation in life and ministry must be love for Him. Shortly after this experience, I found this verse:
When You said, "Seek My face,"
My heart said to You, "Your face, Lord, I will seek."
Ps. 27:8
This verse has become my life verse. It reminds me that God calls me to a close intimate relationship with him, a relationship rooted in His love for me and my love for Him. My life's goal is to do His work, wherever and whatever that might be, with a heart that is in love with him more and more each day.
I hope that this blog reflects my love for Christ. As I post daily thoughts and encouragements, my great desire is that you will be able to say with their whole hearts, Your face, Lord, I will seek.
