Know who HE is...

Who is God?

In 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, we see a glimpse of who God is, and that can help us KNOW His character. I believe when we understand WHO He is, then we can walk through the days of our lives in victory.

When we know who God is, then we are empowered to do His work in this world.

We all have had opportunities to encounter God. He showed up just in time. Or some kind person spoke words of life at the right moment. Maybe you've had a brush with death and realized it was only by His grace that you are alive. I've known people who have been healed, had visions, felt His presence.

Who is God? God is love.

You see, for me, that's His best definition because, throughout the entire Bible, He proves over and over this overriding drive to have these encounters with humans. He seems to desire nothing more than to have a relationship with His creation. This desire and love for us knows no bounds. He was willing to pay the ultimate price for you.

2 Corinthians 5:17–21 NLT

17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!" 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

There are two things that I want to point out in this scripture that will show you WHO God is and WHY I believe He can be defined by LOVE.

"For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ."

Think about this incredible thought: God is entirely Holy. Yet, because of His great love for us, He took on our sin. The blood that was spilled on Calvary is what atoned for the sin of the world.

Do we hear this so much that we don't remember that we have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of a Holy God and that we should be condemned to eternal hell?

The love of God is what prompted Him to offer Christ as our atoning sacrifice. Why, because our sin was what was seperating us from God. He made a way for us to be restored. His loved conquered our sin!

19...no longer counting people's sins against them...

Because of this sacrifice of Jesus, we live in victory because He doesn't hold our sin against us anymore! This is incredible! The only thing separating us from our relationship with God is our choice. Our choice to confess Jesus as our Lord and believe that He rose from the dead. The price has been paid. We can be in communion with the Father.

We have the victory. We can walk in victory every day!

Now, here's a scripture that should Equip you with the understanding of God's great love:

Romans 8:31–39 CEV

31 What can we say about all this? If God is on our side, can anyone be against us? 32 God did not keep back his own Son, but he gave him for us. If God did this, won't he freely give us everything else? 33 If God says his chosen ones are acceptable to him, can anyone bring charges against them? 34 Or can anyone condemn them? No indeed! Christ died and was raised to life, and now he is at God's right side, speaking to him for us. 35 Can anything separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble, suffering, and hard times, or hunger and nakedness, or danger and death? 36 It is exactly as the Scriptures say, "For you we face death all day long. We are like sheep on their way to be butchered." 37 In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us. 38 I am sure that nothing can separate us from God's love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, 39 and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God's love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!

Who is God?

God is Love. He is perfect in love for you. Recieve Jesus today and be set free. Accept the gift of His sacrifice to cover your sins. Repent from your old ways and follow Christ. This is the only way to experience true freedom in this life.

We walk in victory because of this great love!
